pioneer woman's perfect pot roast

with my mother-in-law in town i wanted to make a tasty, healthy, and somewhat nice dinner...but i had to mow the yard yesterday, among the usual of keeping up with a 9 month old, so it had to be something that could cook while i worked. this pot roast was the perfect recipe! everything from the meat, to the onions, to the carrots turned out soooo tender and juicy. chris LOVED this meal (not that he's hard to impress) and it was so simple to make, you can find her simply perfect recipe here. i served with roasted potatoes and iced tea....it was a hit
here it is....yummy yummy yummy

spoiled by mimi

mimi came to move some things into her house and of course brought with her something to spoil her youngest grandson...the cutest little baseball uniform! keller broke in it last night while we watched the all-star game...which the national league won for the first time in 14 years!! which means homefield advantage during the world series. here's hoping we're watching the cardinals @ busch stadium on keller's 1st birthday :)

toofers/two-fers :)

okay, cheesy title i know but i couldn't resist..he had 2 teeth that came in at the same time. he is turning into such a big boy, it just breaks my little heart :( i guess it's time to call the dentist
tell me he's not the cutest little guy you've ever seen??
see my 2 teeth! you can only see 1 1/2 here

it's independence day!

4th of july fell on a sunday this year, which i love because at church they sing all the armed forces songs :) anyway, we spent the afternoon and evening at my grandma's house. she grilled for us and i made apple pie and homemade ice cream :) we played cards and really enjoyed the evening. on the way home we were able to see fireworks for MILES in all directions! it was so neat to see so many different shows at 1 time. happy 4th everyone!
on our way to church on 4th of july sunday

some cute pictures of my cute guy

i knew i wanted to get some good shots of keller because he is 8 1/2 months old and i haven't done that many! when you don't schedule a session, time just flies by and before you know it, you've missed so many phases. while i do take his picture almost everyday, i don't have any recent "formal" pictures...so i utilized having chris home on a holiday weekend and we did some. here are a few, he is so handsome.
i love this little man

pretty green grass

love this one, it may or may not be hanging in my office right now :)

happy birthday to me :)

this year was my golden birthday!! let me guess, you have no idea what that means? well neither did i until my little sister informed me...let me fill you in. apparently, when your age is the same as the day you were born (i.e. 26 years old on june 26th) it is your "golden birthday" to me it just meant 1 year older, and another year wiser of course :) i am not at all afraid of getting older, nor am i one of those people that dreads turning 30, 40 etc. because getting older means another year has passed with LOTS of new memories!

here are a few, in no particular order...
  • gave birth to our first son, our main man keller!
  • realized i could actually survive this motherhood thing :)
  • moved back to my hometown of duncan, ok, had to leave behind great friends in edmond
  • started several odd jobs around town, allows me a creative outlet
  • sold our old house, bought a new one, made it feel like a home
  • went on 2 amazing family vacations
  • watched my baby sister graduate from college
  • saw chris start a new job, which he has loved...i enjoy knowing he's happy
those are just a few of the great things that happened to me at 25...can't wait to see what happens at 26! now here are a couple pictures of chris' present for me ;)
what is it!?!?
just some gorgeous earrings ;)
