happy birthday to me :)

this year was my golden birthday!! let me guess, you have no idea what that means? well neither did i until my little sister informed me...let me fill you in. apparently, when your age is the same as the day you were born (i.e. 26 years old on june 26th) it is your "golden birthday" to me it just meant 1 year older, and another year wiser of course :) i am not at all afraid of getting older, nor am i one of those people that dreads turning 30, 40 etc. because getting older means another year has passed with LOTS of new memories!

here are a few, in no particular order...
  • gave birth to our first son, our main man keller!
  • realized i could actually survive this motherhood thing :)
  • moved back to my hometown of duncan, ok, had to leave behind great friends in edmond
  • started several odd jobs around town, allows me a creative outlet
  • sold our old house, bought a new one, made it feel like a home
  • went on 2 amazing family vacations
  • watched my baby sister graduate from college
  • saw chris start a new job, which he has loved...i enjoy knowing he's happy
those are just a few of the great things that happened to me at 25...can't wait to see what happens at 26! now here are a couple pictures of chris' present for me ;)
what is it!?!?
just some gorgeous earrings ;)

duncan high, our hearts go out to you..

so, for those of you who don't know....my parents, who were high school sweethearts, were both born and raised in duncan, attended duncan public schools and then after college and some time in colorado, moved back to raise their family in duncan, ok. now chris (who is not from duncan, but loves it dearly) and i are back in duncan and raising keller (at least for now) here. there is a movement in our community called "the city of champions" it is sponsored by a group of individuals who are proud of duncan and want to see it's facilities, both athletic and academic, improved so the future generations of duncan students have a chance at competing on a higher level. well, long story short, they needed a "generational" picture for something, i'm not sure what, but i think they were getting several families together to have a few options and seeing as how my family has a duncan history, they asked if we'd pose...and here it is
it's hard to get an 8 month old baby to look at the camera :)
if he really DOES end up graduating from duncan high school, this picture i think will be very appropriate for some sort of senior slideshow :) my little duncan demon

keller turns 8 months old today! w-o-w. 2/3 of a year, and he is such a big boy! we don't have a check up until next month, so i don't know an official weight or height but i can fill you in on all the things he is doing....

  • rolling, everywhere, and i mean everywhere
  • not crawling, but definitely making vast improvements...getting closer every day.
  • smiles all the time
  • jabbers, no real words but can say ma, ba, be, da, jay, gee
  • loves watching his "your baby can read" video
  • can read the word clap, i have video but can't figure out how to upload it
  • reaches for things he wants
  • sits up independently
  • loves his johnny jump up
  • went on his first airplane ride, and trip to mexico

Happy Father's Day!

This was Chris' first "official" father's day weekend...and I didn't even get 1 picture!! i can't believe what a terrible wife i am! ;) no but seriously, i need to get some pictures of chris and keller together on here because keller LOVES his daddy! no matter what we are doing in the evening around 6 o'clock, when chris gets home, everything comes to a dead halt when we here the garage door open. keller starts looking around like a mad man trying to find out what the noise is, and then chris will peek his head around and keller gets THE biggest smile on his face! he starts cracking up laughing and squirming and is just all around so excited to see daddy! chris is the best husband and daddy, and even better at both than i ever imagined he would be...and i expected a lot ;) kidding kidding. thank you chris for all you do, keller and i both appreciate it and love you more than 2 for 1 shakes at sonic!

a blast from the past

tonight we took keller to kiddieland for the first time! kiddieland is a children's park in duncan run by our local kiwanis. they have a carousel, train, tilt-a-whirl, and planes and the tickets are 50 cents a piece...a great place for little kiddos! keller is still a little young to really enjoy it, but his cousin riggs was going for the first time with his cousin (on the other side of the family) bo...so naturally keller wanted in on the action :) i think the boys had lots of fun, i can't wait to bring him back when he's old enough to really enjoy it and understand. he was all smiles and we had so much fun taking him to something new...here are a few pics!
keller and i @ the kiddieland entrance...just like when i was a baby

CABO-10!!

we've been back now for a week officially :( i figured it was time to post about our vacation. we had SO much fun. keller was fantastic on the plane, better than i could've ever hoped for, praise God. he also slept great while we were there, just like he was at home...we were so proud of our little man. chris and the rest of the guys golfed 6 out of 7 days, and chris couldn't complain at ALL! the girls layed out 7 our of 7 days, so i couldn't complain either :) we had perfect weather and didn't even see a cloud in the sky until the day we left! we did some shopping, ate amazing food, and of course had wonderful family time! what a blessing it was to spend 7 days with my husband, precious little guy, parents, grandma, sisters, and nephew. our days went about like this...7 am wakeup to feed keller, breakfast cooked by my dad, lay keller down for his nap @ 9, head straight to the pool right next to our room, read and sun bathe until 11, feed keller, swim with my little guy, lay him down for nap @ 12:30, eat lunch by the pool, lay out until 3:30, wake keller up, swim more, shower, go into town, eat/shop/play, come home feed keller, lay him down, eat ice cream in the hot tub, back to room, get in bed...repeat :) just typing that makes me MISS VACATION! but it's also good to be home....no, i won't lie, i just miss mexico ;) enjoy the pics!
