dressed like daddy

i was getting keller ready for church this morning and i ran across his polo's that i bought before he was born at the ralph lauren baby store.  they are 9 month polo's and i thought "he'll NEVER fit into these..." well, my little chunk fit into this one perfectly at just 4 months and 1 week old :)  and he looked so cute!!  i love to dress him up to look just like daddy...and whether he'll admit it or not, chris loves it too  :)
i'm dressed just like daddy!
look how handsome i am :)

as promised...

as promised in the post below, a new milestone was achieved this week.  my little man started sleeping without his swaddle.  for some people, 4 months is a long time to swaddle their baby, but keller LOVED his swaddle (double swaddle really) from day 1 and i thought breaking him from it was going to be a serious challenge...but after waking up 2 days in a row completely free from his swaddle, i figured it was time to start sleeping without it.  i laid him down that morning and he took right to his nap...he really is a great baby.  he stirs around a little more now during his naps than he used to, but i figure that's just going to happen.  he's getting so big, we'll be lowering his mattress before i know it!
sleeping like a big boy with no swaddle  :(
lol, this was another day...he is saying "why're you taking pictures of me while i sleep??...paparazzi"

who needs crunches?

we have really been working on keller's trunk muscles and he's getting really good at holding himself up.  we spent some time sitting with the boppy (and some extra pillows just in case) and he had lots of fun!!  he's really done a lot of growing up this week...another post to follow about another big milestone.
a little blinded by the flash :)

4 month check up

keller had his 4 month well  check yesterday and everything went great!  dr cox was very pleased with how big he is getting.  she also said he has great head control and trunk control.  he was of course all smiles for her and she loved that too!  he weighed 16 lbs 8 oz and was 26.25 inches long  that puts him in the 70th percentile for weight and the 82nd percentile for height....needless to say he isn't starving :)  he had to get his 2nd round of immunization shots and he was such a big boy!  he didn't cry at all after the first leg and only for about 10 seconds after the 2nd leg.  as soon as i picked him up he stopped crying and was great the rest of the day...he's my little tough guy ;)   he also got the go ahead to eat something other than breastmilk, so we got to try our first rice cereal!  see post below :)

rice cereal

after keller's 4 month check up, we got the green light to give him rice cereal!  he has been strictly breastfed to this point, he's never even had any sort of formula, so this was a pretty big step for him!  he seemed to really enjoy it and of course made a huge mess :)  it was so fun to feed him in his highchair just like a big boy!  he had us cracking up but we still managed to get some pictures AND video :)  can't believe how fast he's growing up!
first bite....
i think he liked it!

not sure if he kept any of it in  :)

"grey"t minds think alike...

when we showed up at my grandparents house today, we were all wearing grey!  :)  naturally we had to take a picture (like we do at EVERY occasion possible)   i love these 2 girls with all my heart, they are very best friends and i can not imagine life without them.  so good seeing you both today...love you more than us being in cabo with mom and dad right now  ;)
maggie, my younger sister...me...and sally, my older sister

grandma and granddad curtis!

today we got to make the quick little 2 hr drive up to shawnee, ok to visit with grandma ruby and granddad roy!  we had so much fun playing with them and going to lunch at van's!!  grandma and granddad are my mother's parents and they are both in their late 80's...they are more active and young at heart than most 30 year old's that i know!  keller has not seen them since thanksgiving and this trip was long over due.  he got some super cool toys from them that he has already been playing with tonight since we got home.  thank you grandma and granddad for being such fun, cool and loving grandparents!  we love you both sooo much!
he loves grandma ruby :)  look at the joy on his little face

the tenth commandment...

exodus 20:17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor or his trip to cabo when it's freezing cold in Oklahoma.....   okay, maybe i adapted that last part.  today 02.21.2010 my parents are celebrating their 29th wedding anniversary...in cabo san lucas mexico.  i am so jealous!!  :)  but on a serious note, they deserve this trip more than anyone i know.  they have loved each other consistently and faithfully for 29 years and have done a fantastic job raising my sisters and i, instilling the values in us that will make a successful marriage like their own.  i am so proud to call them my parents, they work hard and are wonderful examples in our community, they deserve a week of fun in the sun...even if they didn't take me with them :)   it's okay though, i'll get my turn in may!!  love you mom and dad, have a wonderful time!  divitirle!
my wonderful parents...love you both!

33% to 1 year :(

my little man is 4 months old today!  i can hardly believe where the time has gone...how does he get so much bigger every month so quickly??  i am so looking forward to the next several months and how much he's going to change even more!  here is a little run down of keller at 4 months:
  • been sleeping through the night for a LONG time, since before 2 months
  • ALWAYS and i mean always, chewing on his left pointer and index finger
  • loves his "moo cow mat", exersaucer, and caterpiller/lobster toy
  • sleeps great during his naps (on a 3.5 hour schedule, taking 4 naps a day)
  • smiles and laughs at mommy and daddy, definitely recognizes us
  • puts all toys in his mouth
  • rolls from belly to back, but not back to belly...almost there
  • always trying to sneak and watch tv :)
  • reaching for things and pulling
  • likes to be scared
  • drools like a faucet
4 months old today...02.21.2010
comparing to his monster...growing bigger each month, keller, not the monster :)
hi everyone, i am the cutest 4 month old around!  :)  maybe my mom is biased??

spaghetti squash...

and now what chris and i get to eat....okay i won't lie, this was actually really really good!  i had never heard of spaghetti squash until i read about it on thepioneerwoman's website.  i know i know, i'm obsessed with her cooking, so sue me.  this was actually a recipe submitted by one of her other "followers" and i am so glad i stumbled upon it!  it is clearly a vegetable, so it's much better for you than traditional spaghetti.  and it's SO EASY!  you bake the whole spaghetti squash in your oven at 375, for 45 minutes-1 hour and when it comes out, cut it half lengthwise, scoop out all the seeds then use 2 forks to pull all the "spaghetti" out.  i added a little parmesan cheese, and a little pepper.  they say you can add oil/butter etc but i wanted to keep it as lean as possible.  it was amazing!  1 cup of this cooked has 0 fat grams, 42 calories, 10 carbs and 1 gram of protein.  it's a great way to sneak in some veggies and feel like you're eating something bad for you :)
the spaghetti squash with a little parmesan and pepper...
add a little grilled chicken...
this was a fantastic dinner and it was healthy too!

homemade glazed donuts!

i had the task of making breakfast for my sunday school class tomorrow morning, and since chris and i are dieting, making something really really yummy is exactly what i wanted to do!  about a week ago thepioneerwoman put her homemade donut recipe up on her blog and i've been dying to try it, well needless to say i took this as my chance!  they turned out fantastic and were so easy to make!  i don't get to taste test them, but i did have a few people do that for me and they said they were DELISH!  i have to keep telling myself 13 days down...77 to go  :)  try this recipe, it's great!
if you don't want to just eat this whole plate....then bless your heart
the top layer is single icing...the bottom layer has double...mmmm

Kx4

this week we finally got to have another play date with our friend karsten!  he is growing and it's hard to believe he's already 1 month old!!  we had a yummy lunch, some feeding time for the boys and then took a walk around the neighborhood...we had a great day!  we plan on doing it again soon!

p90x round 2...

last monday, february 8th, chris and i started p90x round 2!   i did round one in 2008 (can't believe it's been that long) and was really thrilled with the results i got.  it got my body in the best shape it's probably ever been in, i was feeling good, and could honestly "run further, jump higher etc etc"  since then i've had a bitty baby (who i love very much and was totally worth every lb i gained) :)  although i didn't gain alot with my pregnancy, i am not in the place i want to be.  so chris and i are starting this thing together.  right now we have 1 week down, only 12 to go!  maybe i'll put up my before and after pics when this whole thing is over...they are pretty embarrassing but only friends and family can see this...we'll see.  also, i am nursing so this makes dieting and exercising difficult because i have to watch my caloric intake and how reducing it effects my milk supply.  also, your body holds on to stored fat when you're nursing.  i know it's the right thing to do for keller so i'm praying that i can do both.  here's to living a healthier lifestyle!

happy valentine's day!

happy valentine's day to all!  we celebrated pretty much all weekend long :)  chris surprised me by coming home early on friday with gorgeous roses and calla lilies!  then i surprised him with a 2nd xbox 360 controller and a baseball game...his gift was that he and i could play xbox against each other all weekend long, he was a happy guy!  we also had 3 movies rented and watched all 3 over the course of the weekend (which we NEVER do!)  i cooked us a yummy dinner saturday night and we ate it by candle light with keller...it was so fun :)  hope everyone enjoyed their valentine's celebrations with their loved ones!
such a sweet little guy :)
chewing on his left hand is his FAVORITE thing to do
happy valentine's day!

did you know the human head weighs 8 lbs?

keller is getting so BIG and so good at holding his head up!  he has really grown up this month, i can hardly believe we're less than a week away from 4 months old!   we played on his favorite moo cow mat for a while a few days ago and he was really showing off :)  he really is growing up way too fast, i'm trying to just enjoy every minute!
hi!  look how well i can hold my head up!
rolling over, look close you can see his cleavage ;) lol
"mom, are you seriously still taking pictures?"

our sweet family

i don't get a chance to take a picture of the 3 of us often, and we were on our way to steak night so we took advantage of the self-timer and had a little family photograph taken :)  also, this was keller's first time to wear is stl cardinal jammies :)

du du duuu (imagine a trumpet sounding...) ;)

so my mom had this made for keller while he was still in the womb...and it was chris' FAVORITE thing that we got as far as baby gifts go.  i remember getting it and thinking "oh he'll never fit into this!"  it seemed so big!  and now my little man is big enough to wear it :(  we do love it though...can't wait for football season to start!

you can't see, but it's an OSU jersey :)
atchley, #1 :)  and a nice bald spot he's rubbed in the back of his little head

baby it's cold outside

for a week now it hasn't gotten above 30 degrees out...keller and i are both going a little stir crazy.  i am one for warm weather, playing outside etc.  keller was born in october so he doesn't really know what warm weather is yet, but in a few months he WILL :)  and if he's anything like his mama he is going to love it.  i thought i'd post a couple pics of him all bundled up for this cold weather, he's cute in everything he wears...but i can't wait to dress him in shorts and show off those roll-y little legs :)
going for a jog on the last day before this ice moved in...permanently!

so sweet in his little sweatshirt...he IS one of a kind :)

Grandma and Mimi!

so keller is a very lucky little man, he gets to live in the same town as his grandma and granddad england...and in just a few months he'll get to live in the same town as mimi too!!  he is going to be the most spoiled rotten little boy on the block, but you can't help but just love him...he's too sweet :)
keller and grandma jana, she's getting some neck sugars

keller and mimi, snuggling on the couch :)

commune living...

okay, so i planned on posting several updates last week....then on thursday, as i was playing with keller and enjoying the winter weather, we completely lost power.  at first i was a little annoyed, but figured "oh what the heck, i'll just run some errands and it'll be on in a few hours."  well, 7 days later, we are STILL waiting on power at our house  :(   God has taken care of us for the past week though.  The first day we were out, my dad's office had power so we hung out there in the evening and then slept at my parents house (no power there, but they did have a warm fireplace to keep our little man warm).  day 2: hung out at my Grandma Sylvia's all day, she had gotten her power back.  we did lose it for a couple hours but it came back on before it got dark.  we stayed the night again at my parents.  day 3: spent the day in lawton, enjoying civilization!!  hung out at my grandma's in the evening and spent the night at my parents.  day 4: hung out at my parents in front of the fire, then spent the evening at my grandma's, my parents got power back at their house in the evening, spent the night at my parents for a 4th night.  day 5: chris had to go back to work, keller and i spent the day between my dad's office and my parents house, everyone spent the night at their house again.  day 6: pretty much the same as monday.  today makes day 7....i hope to be able to look back at this and laugh some day soon  :(  hope everyone is staying warm!
